Local advice for one of life's biggest financial decisions
Book a chatLambton is a Wellington mortgage and financial advice business built around a fairly simple idea: good advice should continue after the mortgage settles
We’re here to help people buy homes, certainly. But we’re just as interested in what happens over the next ten or twenty years.
The next house
The family
The career change
The mortgage review
KiwiSaver
Eventually, becoming mortgage-free
We want to be the advisers Wellington households come back to as life changes, to be part of your story.

Wellington is not just a location in our footer
It’s the market we work in and understand. We’ve advised through the effects of the Kaikōura earthquake, changing insurance conditions, shifting bank policy and several very different property cycles.
We understand the difference between an apartment purchase in Wellington City and a family home in Upper Hutt. We know why an NBS rating might become a lending issue. We know insurance can change a bank’s view of an otherwise perfectly good property.
And we know that even in a slower market, the right Wellington property can still end up with several buyers fighting over it. That local context matters.
What we believe good advice looks like
Understand first
Before talking lenders or products, we want to know why you’ve called, what is happening now and where you ultimately want to get to.
Speak plainly
We’ll explain the recommendation without assuming you know banking terminology.
The right lender for your situation
Different banks have different policies and appetites. We’ll work out where your application fits rather than automatically sending everyone to the same place.
Think beyond settlement
Your mortgage is part of a much longer financial journey.
We’ll be here when it needs reviewing again.
Meet Andrew & Chris

Andrew Perry
Andrew has more than 10 years’ experience in lending and holds the New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services (Level 5).
Andrew’s straight-talking approach comes from more than a decade in lending. He’d rather show you where your money is going than guess where rates are heading, and he looks at your home loan and KiwiSaver together, so the advice on one never works against the other. Andrew started his career in Kiwibank’s call centre before founding Mortgage Market in 2016, the business that has now become Lambton.
He has a marketing degree, is qualified to advise on both home loans and KiwiSaver, and is a regular voice on housing in the media. He’s a property investor himself, so he’s sat on both sides of the table. As founder of Lambton, Andrew enjoys the long game: helping clients into their first home, then being there with a plan for the next one. He went to Eastern Hutt School and now lives in Mount Victoria.
Outside work, you’ll usually find him working on his golf handicap, reading history and economics, or out walking Coco, his Chow Chow

Chris Lawrence
Chris has worked in lending for close to 15 years and holds a Bachelor of Commerce alongside the New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services (Level 5).
Chris’ friendly nature and expertise puts his customers at ease. Whether it’s helping a first home buyer through the lending process or crunching numbers with an investor, Chris is approachable, responsive and can turn things around fast.
Before joining Lambton in 2020, Chris launched his career at Kiwibank in 2010 where he spent most of his time as a lender, including as Mobile Mortgage Manager. As Senior Mortgage Broker at Lambton, Chris enjoys being hands-on, building strong relationships with his customers and helping them long-term. Wellington born and bred, he lives in Grenada Village with his family.
Outside work, you can find Chris spending time with his two children, training with his wife at the gym, swinging a bat on the cricket pitch or golf course, or volunteering at Mary Potter Hospice.
Experienced, without being stuck in our ways
Formerly Mortgage Market, we’ve been helping Wellington households since 2016. Between us, we’ve helped thousands of customers and arranged lending running into the hundreds of millions – likely now more than $1 billion over our combined careers.
We understand credit policy and lending systems. But we’re also still very much in the middle of our careers and the Wellington property market, or as we like to call it, the Goldilocks zone: experienced, but not at the end of our careers. We know our stuff, we just don’t think knowing your stuff requires making everything sound complicated.

Connected to the Wellington property community
We work with more than 20 lenders, from the major New Zealand banks through to specialist lending providers.
Along with a good rapport with many real estate agents, accountants, lawyers throughout Wellington, this gives us more than one set of lending criteria to work with. And sometimes that matters more than people realise.
One bank saying no doesn’t automatically mean every bank will say no.
