Loan term calculator
This calculator shows how much sooner you could pay off your mortgage, and how much interest you could save, by paying a little extra each time. Enter your loan amount, the loan term, your interest rate and how often you pay (weekly, fortnightly or monthly), then add the extra amount you could put towards each repayment. You will see your balance year by year with your current repayments and with the extra, plus the interest saved and the time saved.
Keep in mind that the results assume one interest rate for the whole term, and they leave out fees. Before you start paying extra, check your loan allows it: many fixed-rate loans limit how much extra you can repay each year without a break fee, while floating, revolving credit and offset loans are usually more flexible. Sometimes the better move is to restructure your lending so extra payments go where they help most.
The figures are a guide only, not personal advice. If you want to be mortgage-free sooner, talk to Andrew or Chris about a mortgage review and the structure that suits your plans.
